Namisu's latest fountain pen - Namisu Pocket Ti

For those of you have followed Fountain Pen Journey for the past few years, you are likely to be aware that I am a big fan of Namisu fountain pens.
Namisu are based in Scotland and each year they release a pen via Kickstarter, with early backers getting a significant, hefty discount on the eventual price of their pens.
Namisu pens are excellent quality and are priced well. Even when I've bought Namisu's "seconds" (pens which didn't pass their quality checks and prototype pens), these have been excellent quality and value.
Most recently, I was privileged to work with the brother of Namisu's owner, who gave me little insights into the company.

I have a lot of respect for Namisu, despite some people in the fountain pen community having had customer service issues with Namisu and their after sales service.
Whilst I personally do not have an issue with the way that Namisu always release their new pens via Kickstarter, I do understand why some people have an issue with being asked to fund every new product from this already established company.
I also have to add that every one of Namisu's kickstarter campaigns that I have backed have come to fruition and I have always received the pens that I have ordered, though the waiting/production times are usually extensive.

I have to admit that it's been a few years since I last bought a fountain pen from Namisu or backed one of their Kickstarter projects, with the last models that I bought from Namisu being the N1 Pocket fountain pens, which I admit I wasn't a fan of: They were pop cap pocket pens with several rubber O-rings to hold the cap in place on the barrel which made capping/uncapping and posting really quite hard to do.

I can't even remember the model that Namisu released in 2021, other than it was an unusual design with a magnetic cap. It just didn't appeal to me and I did hear that Namisu were disappointed that it hadn't sold well, possibly due to the time of release (straight after the pandemic when economies started to crash).

So here we are in early 2024 and Namisu have just released their latest Kickstarter campaign for the Namisu Pocket Ti (titanium) fountain pen, which also has an optional ballpoint attachment.

It's obviously(!) a pocket fountain pen made from titanium and I would expect that it will be to Namisu's typical high quality.
For those of you who don't like the small nibs that pocket fountain pens usually come with, it's time for you to rejoice: The Namisu Pocket Ti comes with a No. 6 sized nib!

The Namisu Pocket Ti will be available in four different finishes:

Kickstarter backers get a decent 40% off what will be the final selling price via Namisu's website.
There are only 23 days left to jump on this via Kickstarter: LINK
For those who want to see what other fountain pens Namisu have in stock, or if you are willing to wait to buy the Namisu Pocket Ti directly once it is released for sale, here's the link to Namisu's website: www.namisu.com
(I will add that I've already mentioned the lengthy lead times that Namisu's pen releases are prone to, so I would expect that you won't see this pen actually released until much later in 2024)

Will I be buying this Namisu fountain pen?

Probably not. As much as Apple marketed the use of titanium as a selling point for their iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, I'm not into titanium things. I like the soft grey colour, but if I want to use a metal fountain pen, I want to feel a bit more weight to it than titanium offers.
I have titanium rings, which whilst they look good, they feel far too light on my hands.
Titanium is durable, but it also scratches far more easily than you would imagine.
However, there's one problem that I have with the Namisu Pocket Ti: Whilst it is based on the Namisu Nova (a full sized, metal fountain pen which I love), that cap is a screw to post cap.
Recently, I reviewed the Scriveiner EDC Luxury fountain pens on my Fountain Pen Journey YouTube channel (review HERE) and my initial thoughts about these were "ooh, no, these are screw to post fountain pens" but thankfully these pens post deeply before you screw to post. This makes posting them an absolute pleasure.
The Namisu Pocket Ti has what looks like a tiny threaded area on the back of the barrel - I find that screw to post pens of this type are incredibly fiddly to post, and posting pocket pens is usually essential.
